I've just had a look at the CSCS scheme and the JIB-PMES site and I'm confused as hell.

Does anyone know what I'd have to do to be able to work as a plumbers mate on a construction site? The health and safety part of my course isn't considered an exemption so I know I have to do the CSCS Health and Safety test. But what then?

I've just passed the C&G Level 2 in Plumbing and Logics Water Regs and G3 Hot Water Systems which I believe qualifies me as a Plumbers Mate. Figured I'd try and do this to learn and earn and get my NVQ done.

Any help would be grand!

Cheers

CSCS as an apprentice or labourer.

Can't as an apprentice as I'd have to be registered on an official apprenticeship scheme, as far as I understood anyway.

Will give them a bell tomorrow I think.

Cheers

Book yourself in for the test they tell them what qualifications you have and the will issue you with the appropriate card then you have the card for the next five years should the opportunity come to work on a construction site.

You need to take the specialist plumbers cscs test and then you will be told you can only have general operative or labourers card as you dont hold NVQ 2 blah blah blah im afraid !!!

sadly Jaydeburn, its all down to the paperwork pushers and it keeps them in jobs, just keep plugging away and dont let em get to you, I dont have nvq 2 either but have worked in the industry for 26 years you will never keep up with the red tape nonsense. just do your job on site or go private i do both, I sub for construction firms needing plumbing work they pay me the going rate for this type of work, and dont worry about my card status etc, they trust my ability to carry out my job correctly and its a matter of trust and exceeding there expectations, just crack on with it, and dont touch stuff you shouldnt !!! good luck mate!

I have a plumber coming tomorrow to change a cartridge on a badly dripping tap on my bathroom mixer unit. There is no separate isolating valve for this tap so I'll have to close the stopcock. I tried closing it today but it won't go absolutely 100% closed and there is still a very slight flow...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Hi guys. I'm trying to identify a toilet model before ordering a seat for a customer. I went to what used to be a Roca stockist (they no longer are) and one of the guys there reckoned it might be "The Gap". I went to the new stockist and the guy there disagreed it was "The Gap" and that he'd...
