Have lashed out a couple of quid to buy a pipe reamer. Knew it was not going to be a masterpiece in engineering. Are they worth the effort, well these cheap ones anyway, seems to "ream" off very little.

That is what they do, a little at a time, its not a drill!
 
Bogart, I've used the Kopex ones. They're OK but its just more things to lug about. Particularly useful if using a pipe expander as they remove a good bit of the "rounding over" you get from a pipe slice.

I find I use the old red plastic Rothenberger type more than the Kopex because they are lighter and cover more pipe sizes.
