Hi, wonder if anyone can help on this with any tips, or if it is best to get an expert in.

I live in purpose built 4 storey new property and ever since I have moved in (approx 4 years) I havent had the radiators on the top floor as I like a cool bedroom so havent needed too. Now my partner is moving in and I thought i better get it working! I have blead all the radiators on that floor and some air came out but they dont get warm, only lukewarm at the very bottom of the radiators. I have tried turning up the main thermostat to about 28 and the thermostats on the radiators are already on max (5) and still no change.

Any ideas what could be the problem, air lock maybe ?

Cheers

PS i have an Ideal Boiler Classic, if that is of any help.

check the pin on the trv's are working and also check the lockshield valves on the other end of the rads

Check the system pressure. If it's low the first rads to suffer will be the uppermost.

Thanks Mike, this crossed my mind as well except there is no pressure gauge on my boiler or water cylinder to know what the pressure is!

If it's a sealed system there should be a filling loop and pressure vessel somewhere. The pressure gauge should be adjacent to the filling loop. If you're not sure where it is look for the discharge pipe outside and this should give you an indication.

If the system pressure is okay there's a chance that the system has not been balanced properly.
