Best £16 I've ever spent, plier type olive cutter (15mm &22mm) very good at removing olives when changing rad valves etc.

No more cutting with junior hacksaw and they are much better than the puller type.

god £16 i paid £30 for mine but then that was in london. i guess i got done

Hi guys,

Phil--- You say Olive splitter... I recently purchased a monument olive puller, but it was pretty rubbish, i ended up chucking it in my "Brass Bin" for the scrappies lol :p

Is the olive splitter much better, so how does it work exactly ? :)

Wow... that's what I'm talking about... Actually cuts straight through the olive.

I gotta get me one of these. Away to purchase now.

Will post an update once i've tested it.

Cheers mate.

Do they cut olives that have been overtightened and deformed the pipe? do any suppliers sell these i.e pts, grahams etc i could do with a pair of these on monday.

I've got the 15 and 22 size and they are very good but occasionally they wont split the olive, usually if its been deformed too much, still a good tool though.

Some branches of plumb center keep them in stock.

If the fitting has been badly overtightened they don't work but I discovered another use for my pipe expander. Straightening pipe so that you can get the olive off.

Well guys, just an update since my last post on this subject..

I received my "Olive Splitter" the other week and have thoroughly tested it out, my conclusion is -

Its fabulous :) ... It removes copper compression rings no probs, cleanly and easily with little damage to the blades... Struggles a bit more with brass olives and sometimes squashes the pipe or cuts into the pipe and they certainly take more of a toll on the blades.

I can see me needing to replace this tool every 6 months depending on your frequency of use of course :)

I would recommend this to any plumber that maybe replaces a lot of radiator valves or such like.

My tuppence worth!

ive got a olive cutter that does all sizes in 1 tool and never dammages the pipe only 12 pound if i can figure out how to ill show u a video its right handy

Copper pipes, I think its fair to say, is not what it used to be, the copper is getting thin while the cost is going up. Meanwhile, plastic Pushfit seems to be getting better and better, cost and convenience was always better, but now the quality is to, have we reached a stage where plastic will...

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
