Hi all,

I run a scheme (Red Ochre, Skills for Green Jobs) where where we send unemployed young people (under 30-ish) to volunteer in environmental organisations in Seville, Spain. They don't get paid, but they get everything (accomodation, bills, flights etc...) paid for.

We've had two people suddenly drop out in a solar plumbing company role. Its at a family run small business and they specialise in solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, under floor heating, energy efficient acclimatization and water heating for swimming pools.

So we're looking for two people who want to go to Seville on January 13th and learn more about this sort of plumbing. Its ideal for applicants looking to get into renewable energy/energy efficient acclimatization and to learn about installations. They'll gain hands on experience, working closely with the director and travelling to a number of different sites to see clients.

  • You'll stay in a 3 person flat share with other volunteers in Seville.
  • You'll have accommodation, flights, utility bills, insurance and language classes all paid for as well as 750 Euros contribution to food and leisure.
  • You don't need to speak Spanish as the company speaks English (but you will learn Spanish).
  • You'll have an induction week and be supported by a team whilst you're out there.

Because of the drop outs, we need applications ASAP. So if you or someone you know is interested, please post here and i'll get back to you with details.

By Thursday 13th please.

Many thanks and not sure on posting this as my first post but i've had no reason to go to a plumbing forum until now. I can't post urls but if you need more info please do email. Cheers,
Martin

Haha! Yeah i know what you mean. Wish there was something like this when i was in my early 20s. There's not really an age limit, but work is basic and will be a group of the yoot.

I'll go. I feel older than i look

Good experience thing for someone.
Thanks for posting the offer.

If I had 13 weeks spare I'd love to go. Good opportunity for anyone trying to gain experience though.

thanks ecowarm, yep 13 weeks. we're running it again in March, so should be another chance if people can't do January.

I'd love to get involved in this, I have completed my 6129 Tech cert but am yet to gain my NVQ, I have also done the 20 working days training to set me up for my ACS.

Please PM me with further info.

It might be better if you PM Mr Cooper.

Just click his name at the left then private message.

cant send any pm's his inbox is full ! but im interested and still at a tender enough age

Try now - it's empty. Or see the link above and send me an email. Today would be good. Cheers!

I've extended this a bit, so if anyone who is interested can get me a CV (martin (at) redochre.org.uk) by Sunday at the latest that would be great. We're doing telephone interviews on Monday/Tuesday. If you're a trainee / junior plumber you've got a good chance of getting it though.

Hi everyone,

We've opened the final round for this scheme again. So if there are any trainee plumbers out there that want to get some experience whilst living and working in Seville, Spain - get in touch! It's a great opportunity and the other blokes on the plumbing placement have had a great time so far.

thanks.

Can i still not go. I don't snore much

Good opportunity for some of the young ones.

I would of absolutely loved to do this when I was training and younger.
what a experience.

I've just forwarded this to the lad who helps me now and again. How come all these people asking for plumbing apprenticeships are not snapping this up?

They're either shacked up with commitments or too used to mummy's home comforts.

I would have bitten your hand off when I was an apprentice

Cover my bills for the term and I'm gone lol all that experience plus a break from the missus, BONUS

The chap who helps me out is interested. Application is on its way (Andrew Mallery) he is a top lad/worker and would be a great asset to the team.

It sure would have been nice to work somewhere warmer and drier for a while......

What a fantastic oppurtunity..... When I was an apprentice I worked for a building company and did virtually no plumbing for 4 years was just used as a bloody lacki. Come the end of my apprentichip they "let me go" I had learned nothing from them and had to start all over again which is why I was late into getting my gas quals.
If I could I would love to go on this now and is I was single would apply !!!
So come on kids grab hold of this as soon as you can!!!

Brilliant my helper has been accepted for this! Goes next Saturday ! Right need a new helper. Anyone?

As long as he doesn't spend all his free time chasing the senoritas and quaffing sangria!

The lucky bugger leaves on Saturday. However he has left me to do a full system this week on my own!
