Hi,

Just joined to ask this, so sorry if I'm in the wrong place. I'm a homeowner (read: idiot) with a water pump making a... funny noise.

I've taken a video of it, here:

It's only started doing it recently. It does it for 5-10 minutes after the hot water's been running for a while, like after a shower.

It doesn't sound like a healthy thing for a water pump to be cycling on and off every few seconds like that. Google tells me that "short cycling" is a thing and it might have something to do with air in the pressure tank. How worried do I need to be, on a scale of "it's fine, you numpty" to "evacuate the street"?

Thanks.

1. Not dangerous, but if not resolved could damage the pump.
2. Likely to be an air lock in the system somewhere. See various threads on removing air locks.

The pump is not fitted to the manufacturers specification this is how it should be done . cheers kop
