Do contractors usually change meters over to smart meters?

Done a LLSC this week where they have had a new smart meter , meter wasn't fixed to the wall , They left the existing lead pipe in place where i thought it always had to be changed, also where they have left the lead pipe they had some how managed to squash it .

tbh thats normal as they dont have the time to fix brackets / change things but they should

Should have thought so they are gas safe after all..regards Turnpin:biggrin:

In other words they rant doing what they get paid for an leaving things AR

outside contractors and good luck trying to pin them to a wall

6 week wonders

It should be bracketed and fixed, lead can be left in but most suppliers are now saying to change to copper.

No matter who they are or who they work for, the meter installation should be refixed to the correct British Standard and in conformance with the GSRs. Unfortunatley with the introduction of smart meters, a whole new breed of cowboy has come to town. If possible report directly to supply and/or riddor as necessary.

Simple solution, report it to gas safe, and let them deal with the big cowboys.

The contractors are working for a national gas provider. They should manage and inspect work.
