I went to do a service on an oil fired boiler a couple of years back and the customer took me straight to it, opened a cupboard in a bedroom and said "there it is!" I was looking at an 18 litre expansion vessel. I found the boiler on the wall outside. I showed the custard and she said she thought that was just the "exhaust."

I know everyone has their specialist subject but surely this is just common sense

She just wanted to get you to the bedroom! pay attention. lol

I had a customer who thought that gas went around the house and in the radiators:rolleyes:

An old fella lives near me asked me to have a look at his boiler as his heating and hot water wasn't working
Got in house and he pointed the bbu/fire out to me and said "there it is, it don't make a noise like it used to"
Sheets down and started to take fire front off as the pilot wouldn't light (it was at this point I noticed how dusty and cobwebby it all was under neath and asked him when it was last serviced
"Don't know" he said, "but they did something to it when they renewed my tank upstairs"
When was this I asked "about a yr ago now" says the ex miner well into his 80's
Who replaced it? " can't remember their names, but it was free, done by the council" he says
Show me the new tank says I, so he led me up the stairs and proudly showed me his new tank
It was about 700mm x 400mm, bolted to the wall, with a white metal jacket on it saying Worcester
I shouted down to the apprentice to throw the fire back together (after confirming it was decommisioned) topped the pressure up on the tank, I mean boiler, told him how to top pressure up himself ( his eyes glazed over and he just nodded) and left
I did go back to repressurise about 12mths later and I charged him that time, although it was only £20
Haven't heard from him for a few yrs, so he's either dead, or he's gone all technical

I have attached an image of the brass body within a tap. Having replaced a cartridge which has cured a leaking tap, I can see that there is a small leak from the brass body which can be unscrewed. Is there a seal behind the body? Thanks.
