Can this double check valve be attached to a plastic water pipe, or can it only be attached to a copper water pipe? Thanks.

Yes, but you must use the manufacturers pipe inserts inside each plastic pipe. If using Speedfit pipe, use the inserts without the additional O rings.

If the check valve comes with brass olives, you might wish to replace these with copper olives.
 
No there softer than brass ones so be easier and safer to do on plastic pipe

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADJUST THIS MIXER UNIT? WE HAVE TO HAVE IT TURNED ALMOST FULLY ANTI CLOCKWISE TO GET HOT WATEROUT. THE FRONT PLATE WITH MIRA ON IT PRISES OFF AND INSIDE THERE ARE SOME PLASTIC BITS AND A SMALL CROSS-HEAD SCREW IN THE MIDDLE. THANKS
