Brookhouse training centre

I all just wondering if anyone has heard of Brookhouse training centre or done any training with them. it is supposed to be 18 weeks training, 8-10 of these are out on site with an engineer and 8 in the classroom. Now I'am not trying to kid myself that in 18 weeks you can far from call yourself a gas engineer. All I want to do though is offer Landlord certificates and servicing so I can supply these to my estate agents as I currently supply energy certificates and PAT Testing Certificates. This would be another product to my list.

If anyone has any useful information that may help, then this would be appreciated.

It is fast track ( cough , cough ) gas course! 18 weeks and they say they give you the experience neccessary for gas in field placement, rough estimate £ 7000 course , 18 weeks off work no income minimum £5400 plus assessment costs and the rest transport and accomodation £ 2500 ?? fill your boots.

hi this is the same course i am looking at, but purely for the qualifications, i was made redundant 2 months ago, have sorted my own work placement out (easy its with family) but wanted to be able to get the gas qualification quickly, yes its about £6500-7000 to do the course, but if you have the money and are not expecting to be fully competent after 18 weeks it looks ok to me, i am expecting to have to work for some time before i can call myself competent and also have to do some more courses, my brother in law has been in the trade for 20 odd years and has told me that it will be hard graft to get to a level where you will feel comfortable

been working for him on and off for a few years already, holidays etc, feel that I now need to be able to get some qualifications, it was him who recommended the course to me, I just think that with some qualifications it would benefit myself and him later on, when hopefully I will be working full time for him, also old father time is creeping up on me so thinking if I get it done now far better than waiting till I will be nearly 46 to do a course lol

copy and pasted from their web site, I know it does sound expensive, i balked when i heard how much it was, but with a family to support etc needed to go the quick route to the gas qualification

so you get your ccn1, everything else is either part of that or added to make it seem a bit more.
i get wh your saying you want the qual, so its an option, if its right for you great go for it i hope it works out for you. just be aware of what your getting, pretty much just your acs which only lasts 5 years

I thought about doing it a while ago , it's the placement which bothers me , who it will be with etc over 10 months. they're my competition really if its based locally.

i did my training with them. 18 weeks your having a laugh. i was already working as a plumber, you may get it done in 18 weeks i guarantee you now you won't be doing you acs in 18 weeks took me another 10 weeks to get a date for my acs and was pestering them nearly everyday and going and reading the riot act. they love your money but customer care is shocking. idid mine nearly 18 months ago with 12 other lads 6 of them still haven't done there acs yet. what does that tell you.

People are having portfolios constantly rejected and items previously passed are then failed. Are they struggling financially? Is this the reason they don't want people to take exams as this costs them money?

pay everything with visa so if they go bust you shoudl be covered; same for holidays, electrical goods etc. I put everything on my Visa now ande pay it straight off.

Not saying all companies may go bust but easier, for instance, I got a TV, went belly up, Comet were crap, told Visa TV went boom, told them about Comet, full refund to buy new TV, got one from internet same make model, all hunky dory.

I qualified last July with brookhouse I have ccn1 cenwat CPA1
Htr1 ckr1 energy efficiency part l and unvented cylinders and no one will employ me without 5 years experience even though I worked on placement with warm front ltd for 4 months. So I have had to go it alone. I would find someone who is willing to take you on once you have qualified. As it cost another ten thousand to start up. Also worth considering how many has engineers there are in your area. Best of luck.

4 month warmfront placement hanging rads, crawling under floors and cutting out scrap is not a lot of gas experience and anyone seeing that on a CV knows exactly what you were doing there. There are too many well experienced (many years) guys chasing work for new starts to compete with atm but the message never gets through.

hi guys i've recently completed my training and exams through brookhouse and although it was a wrench to part with the money i can say i thought it was overall money well spent. The key thing with brookhouse is that they provide you with a work placement which is something trying to source yourself pretty much impossible. The trainers and facilities and good and its all done at the individuals pace.

We've had a few emails about this company if it is one and the same, appears to have had quite a bad trading history if it is James McConnell

Personally I would avoid any company that even slightly appears to be a bit of a pheonix.

Whether this company actually is, I guess we'll see in due course.

Okay, I’m getting pretty tired of so called “experts” commenting on ME personally and on our company. I’ve done nothing wrong and have got nothing to hide.
Unlike any other training centre in the UK we do care about our students and what people are saying about us.

So in an attempt to try to put some clarity and FACTS on the subject, against my better judgement I thought I would personally offer these comments.

Yes it’s the same company that we voluntarily put into admin last year. The question people should be asking is WHY!?!?

Did we lay off ANY staff – No
Did we leave ANY students behind – No
Did we leave ANY creditors with debt – No

Of course we could have done all of the above and saved ourselves a ton of money along the way but we are not that kind of people or company.

So why did we voluntarily go in to admin and create a “phoenix” Dan?

How about we had no alternative after taking some bad advice from an account who is now serving 6 years in prison? See these reports:

We consider ourselves to have had a very lucky to escape from Upton & Co even though we personally lost a considerable amount of money in the process, not to mention the significant amount of money we had to invest in the new company. So you can see sometimes things are not as straight forward as they first appear…Bottom line is we saved the company, 25 peoples careers and countless students training and NO ONE lost any money other than the two directors.

Brookhouse has been training people since around 1999 and we are very proud of our history. The fact the ownership has changed since then does not diminish this fact in any way. We are a small (ish) family run business with a conscience trying to make a difference by offering quality training at a price that we believe is very competitive when you compare with what we actually deliver against our so called competition.

I am more than happy for anyone to come and see us at Brookhouse and see what kind of ethically run business we are. More than that I will personally show you around and answer any questions about myself and my company.

never ended up going for this course, i got put off by the constant phone calls from them begging me to pay a deposit, I have started working full time for my brother in law and learning as i go, doing 1 night a week at college which has cost me £395 quid for the course fees etc which i think is a better way of going I could have got on it for free but you had to have been on a really low income or on the dole etc for a freebie, brother in law reckons its easier for him to teach me than for him to undo what i have been taught and says when he feels I am up to it we will get the gas quals later, as for these training courses, if you need a quick route and have the money to burn then hell its your money, I would just be careful as there seem to be an awful lot of fly by night places running courses that tell you you can be earning thousands 2 weeks after completion.

I've done my training there and I know that the one thing they tell all of the people who enquire with them is here's all of the information, if you think we're right for you, we'll train you. I never heard from them again and about 3 months later, I decided to train with them. They said it to me and I know they said it to other people who were on my course. If you got constant calls from a company begging you to pay a deposit, it wasn't from Brookhouse.

just a quick note with regards to brookhouse it definately was this training centre that rang me and the sales person or who ever it was rang me 4 times in total in the space of 2 weeks asking when i was going to take the course etc and when i would be paying the deposit, in fairness to them I never visited them and never took the course so I can not comment on them individually, so for anyone who has had a good experience from them I am glad you did, but as for it wasnt someone calling from them all I can say is it definately was from brookhouse, I just wish I could remember the guys name that was ringing me, and in fairness he did stop when I told him I wasnt interested.

With a GUARANTEED WORK PLACEMENT! in cleckheaton ? i emailed them regarding my part p . price and dates got an email back with both then a follow up email about a month later informing me there were now 2 places left if am still intrested. was a chap called tim.

I took my original acs with brookhouse in 2002 and have been back there several times for reassessment and other courses , they have been superb , the training was good and I have carried out portfolio work on two students each one came to me well trained and ready to get hands on , one of them was through the course in no time and was keen to get on. He is up and running on his own and already loving his new business. The other student took considerably longer due to him not turning up .the rate people get through these courses is often down to them. I would fully recomend brookhouse training as I have carried out training for other providers and found them to be lacking in basic knowlage. To prove a point I will put my money wheremmy mouth is and book on several courses this next month. I have been attending for over ten years and have never lost money or been ripped off , I have two apprentices at the moment and they will both be going through brookhouse , if you visit my web site you can email me and ill send you emails of students you can ask them your self.
