Evening boys!

Recently been having to drill through stainless steel. 2 x 32mm hole for a set of taps. I've been using my normal Bosch powerchange bits with cobalt pilot bit. I'm barely getting the two holes done from one bit. Drilling on a slow speed setting. So that's working out at £5 a hole. Just wondered if anyone had ever any specialised S/S bits and if you would recommend them. Cheers

you tried it at high speed? think those bits are better at high speed

Slow to Medium speed with oil not wd40 if I remember correctly.

Check out Qmax hole punches you'll get a perfect hole buy a good pilot and some cutting grease and some patience bobs ur mothers brother

you need a hole punch ikea used to give you one with their stainless sink its in two pieces with a bolt through thttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-1-2-ROUND-HOLE-PUNCH-by-THE-BRITISH-TAP-DIE-CO-Ltd-/291279223192?pt=UK_Collectable_ToolsHasdware_RL&hash=item43d1983998he center you just\ screw the two parts together and it punces a hole
not the size you need

Thanks for responses. I'm pretty sure high speed is a big no no! Have never used cutting oil. Think I might get some for next. Been looking at either starrett or the Lenox ones. I'd be pretty confident with starrrett. Normally unbeatable in the hole saw game

You can get specialised holesaws for stainless steel, and you have to use cutting oil with them.
They are costly, but for kitchen sinks the best thing is a hole punch.
Perfect size hole, no burrs and no risk of slipping and damaging the sink.

a step drill will leave a burr.
