hi lads,

Wondering what you would recommend on waterproofing the bathroom shower walls.

The bathroom shower walls are currently concrete / brick wall - no plasterboard.

Is that enough to use a liquid rubber - mapei tanking kit ? Or would you suggest to use any waterproofed boards ? Ideally customer wouldn't like to make the room smaller however, what would be the best way ?

Kind regrads,

Ro

I would mechanically fix 10mm waterproof insulation boards. Tape the joints and away you go.
This will waterproof and give a bit of warmth to the room.

dot and dab (heavy) marmox boards on

What thin boards are we talking about? Where would I get them ?

They will be rendered Ron not concrete , assuming they are straight ish and flat you could tile on top with a quality adhesive, but failing that would go with 6mm boards ( hardiebacked , no more ply )

I was thinking about marmox but then again they aren't cheap, neither they are easy to get hold of. But would prefer similar boards about 10-12mm thick

Google it

Thanks town,

I will bear that in mind with the hardi boards. I assume you mean the whole bathroom walls right ?

Good grief no , just in the shower , but IF the walls are sound , use an acrylic bonding agent and tile on top .

Where do you live?
CTD do 10mm boards fir about £10 a board.
I live in east London nothing really close by. The closest one would be Enfield. Are they hardi boards ? I guess ctd does wedi boards but not too sure

Will I not have a different thickness of walls when I put boards just in the shower area?

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...
