had a quick look at an old ariston storage combi for a friend today it was massive .lh heating prv constantly dripping - decided to put boiler on to see if it worked - topped to 1 bar just slight drip from prv at 2 bar so prv passing after being on for 5 min at 2 bar rads got warm the prv gushing out but pressure still 2 bar heard cold mains hissing it was passing into the boiler even with the filling loop removed so assume plate has had it . never knew ariston did a storage combi . advised customer to get new boiler .

that's the one steve massive and parts are realy expensive.

They have a small unvented stuck on the side of them yeh? was it that prv that was passing?

no mate the heating one topped to 1.5 bar and turned on all was ok just small drip then after 5 min it was gushing out but still on 2 bar turned boiler off and could hear mains water entering the boiler through cold connection and it was exiting throught heating prv . mains turned off boiler wnt to zero but turn mains on it filled its self to 2 bar and filling loop was off

Sounds like an expensive repair :) Do they still have a phex? Can't remember off hand and can't be chuffed to download the mi's :) Just thinking it'd most likely be that if they did have?

they are getting british gas out on fixed charge repair they say - been told if they cant fix it they wont charge . told them to ask for a quote as well then compare mine to it .
