Ive been a printer for the past 10+ years and decided about 9+ years ago that printing wasn't for me! I've been doing a City & guilds in Plumbing which I'm almost finished but need to make the next step and get some experience to get a job.

The trouble is having a family and a mortgage I can't quit all to try my luck within the industry - any advise on how I should proceed? any reccomended employers within the Medway area?

Scott:eek:

I was in a similar situation to yourself, mortgage young family etc. I did a city & guilds plumbing course and went straight into self employment. It has been two and a half years since i took the plunge and i wont lie the first two years was a real struggle, only now am i finding that i am getting a reasonable amount of work. As for employers, you will find it hard to get work this way... experience and a full plumbing apprenticeship are what they are looking for.
After completing your course i would suggest you continue in your current job if you can and maybe try and put your name about, small adverts in shops, local papers etc and work that you get you could fit in at weekends or evenings until you find you are getting fairly regular work.
Good luck..

Try putting an ad in the paper and do it at weekends or evenings. Test the water, gain some experience and build your rep up.

If you can tile too, then you can expect to gain more work with the bathrooms etc.

Stay in touch here and let us know how you get on :)

Thanks very much for your advise. It's good to know that you had the confident to go for it and that it eventually paid off! Thanks scott

Hey scott
Have you tried specialising in CWSC or storage tanks? Aslong as you don;t flood the customers house you're fine. (you've prob guessed who this is haven;t you_ he he he) only joking mate. Good luck with the baby and getting a wife with no mood swings back.
See you next course.

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
