Its new pipe, going to the bathroom, there is no leak that I can find, no wet bits, no puddles, the meter is still moving,:(

(unfortunately, the glass is broken, I think a bit of brick rubble may have fallen down there, someone left the cover up  , werent any of you lot was it ? just to see the end of this thread )

I dont dispute its new pipework but why not cut it off at some piont after the s/c and before any branches and cap it off. Then check the meter, if it stops then its your pipework or fittings, connect them back up and see, and then maybe disconnect each branch one at a time, its a logical process of elimination.

;) I have tried all that, cant do anything now though (waiting on the bloke to arrive)

No puddles, no damp patches, no pinholes, gauge holding steady, SC 2 off, meter still moving or was before the glass got broken)

yeah, but when stopcock 1 is off the meter doesnt move. right? so doesnt that rule out the meter?

Sorry if already been asked lots to read

Thats right, get no water anywhere, ;)

I know there is far too much to read, thank god its a weekend;)

and this was just supposed to be a PJ, and lasting a couple of days at most, but everything you cxan think of has gone wrong (its Murphy's law gone mad)

so wont the WB guy look at the meter when stopcock 1 is shut and instantly rule out the meter? sorry to sound negative.

He did come out and check between the meter and SC 1, it had stopped, the problem is between SC 3 and the bathroom (now I dont really want to go through it all again, just start at the beginning )

Hehe - FAR too much time on here obviously - cracking thread on your booze shelf!!

I still find your Avatar unbelievable!!!

:p

It's me missus's fault! she took a perfectly good picture of me, cut it in half and mirrored it. Terrifying result!

My daughter (who lives in Cannock with her mum) once asked me to send her a pic quick by phone so she could show her mate and her parents. I sent her that, she was very quickly escorted from the premises!

Waiting for the water board to dig out the meter,

the owner has NOW decided to get the bathroom done, change the bath, HB and WC

He now wants a corner bath, a shower cubicle, use the old WC and HB if I can get them out without breaking them

Then tile the floor, walls, brick up a window (because of the shower)

He said it must be the taps:)

That wont happen for a while, I'm away on Saturday for 3 weeks

But apart from that, nothing has happened, the meter is still moving, but so slowly

Still no water showing

The kitchen fitter is still sodding about 16 days after all the flat pack arrived (must be on day work)

When anything new happens, I will let you all know

I cant see anything wrong with that picture, it keeps the kids away from the PC, I suppose, print it out and put it on the mantlepeice, it will keep them away from the fire as well:):):):):):):)

(last time I saw a tongue like that, it was in front of a door, they called it a door mat;);))

Sounds like a typical home owner project management!! Enjoy your break.

I can't be faffed to read through all the threads again, but there's not a shower mixer anywhere on this system? Could be mains pushing through hot supply?

I'm just gonna wait till they dig that damn meter up!

Yes there is a shower mixer, I had the hose in a bucket of water to see if it would either fill up or empty, neither happened

I want to see this meter dug up as well

Av just had similar problem with alcotheme . Someone used protectaline pipe and a philmac fitting on it and the water was getting in between the metal protection on the pipe and was leaking the under floor, no wet patches anywhere either.

Tell me more about this, as you can see I have a similar problem

Ahah, could we have found the culprit? I bloody hope so, this is a brain bender.

my call out. water on at meter water off at stop tap meter didnt move. water on at meter on stop tap meter turning, everything off service valves on everything (it brand new house on building site) cold main had filled everything in house so only place left to travel was in between metal protection on alcotheme and alcotheme itself was actually leakin underground had blown hole in protective layer. the way I found out was I dug meter up pulled alcotheme out and saw hole. Then I went round site jus cutting metal layer back on alcotheme to expose inner pipe and fastenin my stoptap on this. For me job done! hope this helps m8...

only reason I stripped all alcothemes back is because at the time I didnt know if water was gettin between the layers from my side or meter side.

I might be barking here so bear with me , i think the waterboard have facility to put an oscilloscope from the meter to the end of run so as to get a wave pattern which could show were the water is going , also they have listerning devices that can hear peaks . maybe the guy who came out only had basic stuff ( two sticks that cross etc ) .

I'd forgotten about this, what was it Derrick??

So had I, now to give everyone an update,

Removed the fllor tiles, removed the ply (he had glued that to the floor boards)

Removed hand basin, removed WC, exposed all the pipe work, there was the culprit, a dripping elbow, the floor underneath was full of brick rubble/plaster, it had soaked up all the water, it was like mud, but as all that had soaked up the water, it never showed on the ceiling downstairs

The bloke didnt want me to remove the floor or tiles in the bathroom (quite happy to remove the bath panel and change the pipe to the bath though) in the endd, he had no choice

After all that, he argued about the price I gave him and took 6 weeks and too many visits to get paid off

I took out 3 buckets of rubbish, it wasnt a massive leak, just enough to move the meter, though

Replaced the fitting, job done, no leak

i'm glad you got it sorted in the end.

I would think there are a lot of people who replied on this topic are pleased to see the end of this saga as well:D:D

Why do I always get the C*ap jobs ?

you'rv not the only one that gets c#@p jobs i'm sure everyone gets their share. i had a bathroom where i had to virtually rebuild the floor before i could start. it was a bungalow and the floor joists where rotten on the outside wall end and they had to be jacked up and chocked up on blocks.

I know what you mean, I got another b*tch on the go, but this is 200 miles away, and is from a friend, look in the heating forums

(thank god I cant get there, the call out would be horrendous)

Fancy a drive to ***bria ???:D:D

Don't mind me while I bump some threads in the plumbing forum category. This thread might not be a current topic, if it isn't, just let it drop off the list.

This was about the last job I done before I retired, it was a PJ, it was a real headache, glad to see the back of it, these days I just travel, seen a lot of appalling plumbing on my travels, the UK has some of the best plumbing in the world and the best plumbers, compared to some of the rubbish I have seen, any fool in these countries think they can be a plumber

Well I am now out of it all these days, cant say I am glad though, but its a big world out there and I may as go and see it while I can (and have the money and health to do it)

Don't mind me while I reply to a few of the threads. We need the new thread pages to be picked up correctly. If this thread isn't current, just visit the plumbing forum and post your own new thread or checkout the other existing threads.
