Hi all, a DIYer here. I've plundered the site as a lurker and now it's time to join :) Hoping to pick up more tips and advice.

Hello Liz and welcome to the forum!
No more lurking, - get yourself posting! :)

Oh I am... I am... Potentially about to find out if I've wrecked my boiler [facepalm]

Post you problem on the Central Heating section of forum.
Any actual gas boiler issues that involve the inside of the boiler casing cannot be answered unfortunately by any of the gas engineers for safety reasons obviously.
Edit, - I just read your post re your "overflow" and looks like you might be alright and not too serious a problem hopefully. :)

I'm very bung of gas generally, so there is no way I'd consider doing anything as daft as DIYing it. It appears I've messed it up just trying to turn the damn thing on!

Maybe just wrong valve open. Let the gas folk on here help you and maybe you won't require a call out. Photos later always helpful
