Default Re: Open Question: plumbing question about hot water tap?

Could be that your cold mains pressure/flow via the combi-boiler is poor, so you have to turn on the hot tap fully to get enough flow to operate the boiler firing switch. Your heat exchanger is possibly scaled up so much that you then have to reduce the flow to a minimum to allow time for the heat to get into the water to raise its temperature sufficiently.

If the heat exchanger is scaled up, this would explain the poor flow.

Get the heat exchanger power-flushed!

Cheers,

Big Al
