Question Open Question: cold shower?

I have combi boiler with a tap/shower mixer that was installed 2 years ago. it has been working successfully producing a good temperature and pressure up until the last month, we have been having intermittent issues with it. on occasions when we turn on the hot tap we get little or no water i have noticed that the boiler does not turn on downstairs. the cold water always flows at a good pressure. However sometimes the heat and pressure is fine. The hot water tap downstairs works fine with no problems. does the problem lie with the plumbing or boiler?ThanksConleth

Default Re: Open Question: cold shower?

The fact that the downstairs hw tap works fine proves that the problem is not with the boiler. Therefore it is probably the mixer tap that is giving you problems.

You could test this theory by turning off the mains water, unscrewing the hw tap mechanism from the mixer, then carefully (with an assistant!) turning on the water again. If the tap is faulty, hot water should gush out of the open hw side (mostly into the bath, hopefully). Maybe a lump of crap will be flushed out of the tap and the problem resolved!

Cheers,

Big Al
