Question Open Question: 'farting' noise from plumbing?

everything in the house i'm renting has seems to have been bodged. when i moved in it took ages to adjust the mains water pressure with the stop cock so that the upstairs toilet and immersion heater would still fill up without all the pipes making a loud 'farting' noise for 2 or 3 minutes whenever any cold water was run off. turning the water pressure down as low as possible seemed to cure the 'farting' noisesunfortunately i've just had to replace a leaky ball valve in the upstairs immersion heater today and i just cant seem to get the water pressure low enough to stop the 'farting' but still high enough to refill the toilet cistern and immersion heater.the replacement valve was the exact same type of high pressure valve as the original. the noise is so bad the neighbours may complain.i've not had this problem in any other place ive lived, what is likely to be wrong?

Sounds to me that you need to use a few more pipe clips, as they don't seem to be supported enough and may be banging on the joists etc.

You may also have 'water hammer', which is cured by adding a pressure reducing valve to the house supply pipe. Over use of fittings like 'elbows' etc are a normal casue of this.
