Default Help please

Hi all

I've been thinking recently about a change in career. At present I work in an office stuck behind a desk all day and I really don't enjoy it. I'm in my early twenties and have been thinking of looking into training courses in plumbing and I was hoping that somebody may be able to shed some light on the following questions:

How do I go about getting relieable information on what qualifications I need to get? Is there a main website that I should be looking at?

How long will it take to re train?

Is it really viable to do it around my current employment as i have a mortgage to pay so I can't afford to give up my current job.

Roughly what is the basic starting salery on qualification?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm not looking to earn the 80k that all of the adverts I seem to have seen on the internet have said. I just want a career where I get job satisfaction whilst still earning enough to get by!

Cheers

If you are looking to get a job after re-training then you will need an apprenticeship and not a fast track course as you will find it difficult to find employment unless you go self employed
these courses are turning out around 6000 plumbers per year and have been for about 6 years so there is lots of people paying for the courses and are unable to find employment or go self employed due to costs involved or fail as self employed, if you decide to do a course good luck

first thing mate you want to get to a gym with the scenarios in the job , being fit is an issue. i went to a collage an worked on a few hotels installing rads an alot of maintenence (changing valves, installing valves, swaping suits around, an general problem solving basicly gettin stuck in) the rates arnet great for the first few years but ull never be bored an it beats sittin at a desk all day.

so some advice get stuck in theres always work an no little how big or how small the job is..... you cannot pay for the experience because thats what most people want. word of mouth works aslong as the job is up to standards.
