I have never seen it used in plumbing, 99.5% heating systems are closed circuit, filled by the mains, or via a force pump if anti gell (anti freeze) is used

otherwise its liquide lavage, which can come in concentrated form in sachets to make 1 litre of liquid

Have you ever made this up, to help "drag round" a gravity circulation cuircuit

Default Re: Hints & Tips, Simple pressure test kit, how to make it

An easy way to make an air pressure test kit, all that is needed, is

1) Old car tyre schrader valve

2) A short of 8mm copper tube

3) An 8mm x 15mm reducer

4) Car foot pump with a pressure gauge on it

Remove the inner part of the valve, clean the outside of the valve body, slide it into the 8mm copper tube, solder the valve body, into the 8mm copper tube, and the tube into the 8mm x 15mm reducer, when cold refit the inner valve body

There's your home made test kit, suitable for air testing just about any pipework, after first fixing

if you can never find your flux brush,or it is stuck in a pot of flux which always seems to end up all over your tools when you move from job to job ,try this-cut a bit of 22mm copper a bit longer than your brush, solder 22mm cap end onto one end .shove your brush inside(wipe it first),push fit cap end (removable!)on other end-that is it!!chuck it in your tool bag and you always know where it is when you next need it.

Drilling into floor tile? Prevent your tile bit from drying out by moulding a small handful of Plumbers mate into a string about 4 inches long. Start drilling for about 2 seconds so you have your bullseye, now mould the Plumbers mate string piece into a circle around where your drill bullseye is. Press down firmly to get rid of airholes, now fill with 4mm of water and hey presto you can drill your hole without the expensive drill bit burning out!
