Lets say there was a high rise with 19 floors for example and there just happened to be no water because there was a leak some where and no one had a clue why or where it was coming from. How would you go about sorting the problem?

This is interesting feed back this,im a newbie to the game and if i had a problem it would be nice to know this.If you went to the job to find out you couldnt do it and had to pass it on to a subby would you put a charge on it,ie to the customer for being called out or to pass the work on to the subby?

19 storey building? That's going to have a few bar mains pressure. I'm pretty sure a leak that was big enough to stop the supply of water to some/all of the flats inside would be pretty easy to find.

That won't happen. High rises are plumbed different. Learn to walk first.

If I'm capable of doing a job I will. If I'm not sure I'll get some advice or extra training. At the moment I'm working on a log cabin. Fitted the LPG heating and the bathroom so far. I'm part way through fitting the sewage pump (never done this before so it's interesting). Got a booster set to fit to provide enough water and to finish with I'll be fitting the kitchen. A nice variety of jobs. If a jobs too big for me I'll call in a mate to help.

The only thing I don't do is commercial gas. I've got my tickets for Air source, ground source and solar thermal but don't really use those because as a one man band it's not viable to become MCS registered. It's nice to know how the technology works though in case I come across it anywhere.
