Teeing in.
Hi guys. Just looked at a job for plumbing a dishwasher in and without re-arranging all the pipe work under the sink the only place left to tee in is after the isolation valve on the outside tap feed. This concerns me, am i right to be dubious or should i tell the guy i'm gonna have to re-arrange his pipework. ps his outside tap has an integral DCV.

Re: Teeing in.
Can you get another Iso valve in after your T for the outside tap.
Or take the Iso out, fit a T for the Dwasher and Iso after that.

Re: Teeing in.
if i tee in after the iso valve then there is room for another one on the dishwasher run as it has to run behind the kitchen units.

Re: Teeing in.
What's the big deal? If you get a problem with the outside tap you can just isolate the pair of them, it's a dishwasher so hardly an essential you can't live without, or am I missing the point?

Re: Teeing in.
If you tee in after the isolating valve then in the winter the outside tap could
not be isolated without the dishwasher also being isolated.
My opinion it's a non starter. Alter the pipework.

Re: Teeing in.
can you not replace an elbow or a straight coupling with a tee,
always a good idea anyway, as you get a coupling for free this way.CONFUCIUS SAY- man with hole in trouser pocket, feel cocky all day,

Re: Teeing in.
i would remove the outside tap iso, replace for a comp tee and fit the iso back in after the tee. then run to washer from center of tee. this is just a guess ofcourse.
make sure the dishwasher is wras approved and its hose otherwise id fit a dcv on its supply.Last edited by AWheating; 19-08-2012 at 08:23 PM.

Re: Teeing in.
Just to "throw caution to the wind" about this, the isolating valve might not have the same pipe slip as the new tee if you change them over and could leak. Best in my opinion, if there's enough pipe to remove the iso completely by cutting it off with a hack saw or pipe slice and then replace it with a new compression tee and then fit the iso with new olives. This way you will have new olives from the tee, full slip on the pipe and new connections all round meaning less chance of a leak resulting in a call back.
