Trade screw case set
Hi Guys
As the title suggests would be interested to hear your recommendations for a suitable trade screw set which would suitable for a number of different fixing situations, load bearing etc.

Re: Trade screw case set
You can get a midi trade case from screw fix from about £30 which has a good selection of every size you will need. You will find you use some sizes more than others so just top them up as you use them.

Re: Trade screw case set
Be careful with the cheap kits, load them up with a decent drill/driver and you'll shear the heads off !!

Re: Trade screw case set
I've used TurboGold (Screwfix) for around six years now and when lending to other tradesmen nearly always get a positive response. Why they don't have enough of their own beats me but that's another thread (if I can be bothered).
I'm not a complete idiot; some parts are missing

Re: Trade screw case set
Turbogold and Turboultra, with the latter perfect for anywhere near water/humidity such as bathrooms or outdoors as they are stainless steel. I like the 3" stainless ones for fixing down pans, they are far stronger than brass and very corrosion resistant.

Re: Trade screw case set
I just use quicksilvers. They are not as sharp as the gold screws but that doesn't matter with screw guns. I also buy 32mm drywall screws for saddle clips (they don't split the wood) also sometimes use 3" x 10 turbo ultras for pans etc but they are not a strong screw. They will break quite easily if you put a lot of torque on them. I prefer brass pan screws but they don't make pozi brass screws (the brass is too soft for a pozi head).

Re: Trade screw case set
I get mine from Haldane and Fisher over here in NI. Where you can get them on the mainland I don't know. You need a screwlok driver too.
