Default Hot Cylinder To be or not to be... (Replaced)?

    Hi Guys

I'm getting ready to install a shower pump into my house.

Question is: The hot water cylinder is approximatley 28 years old, and although we've never had an issue with it would you change it?

    Regards
    Blu

not if it doesn't leak and it is still doing what it is supposed to. presumably you have it well lagged
the only problem you may have is if you are in a hard water area then it will probably be scaled up

i saw a toilet cistern today which had accumulated so much scale it took up a third of the space in slates of the stuff. it had been going down the flush pipe and getting stuck causing it to leak. dread to think how much a cylinder could build up in 28 years. i've heard of people not being able to lift them because the scale is so heavy.

then i would say that it would be a good idea with a cylinder of such vintage that it would be a good idea to change it

as you are fitting a shower pump you will need to work on the cylinder to suit with a flange of some type.
so if its not leaking now it could well be when your finished.
if you go for a new cylinder try and get one with the shower connection already fitted
