Default Ceramic tap cartridges

Did a 'simple' leaking tap the other week, took me three weeks and three visits! It seems there are a hundred different ceramic cartridges out there, couldn't even strip this one down because the plastic casing was moulded into the brass.
Any body know of any good suppliers, found this page but didn't have the one I wanted. (bit pricey as well as they only offered me a pair of similar cartridges which might not have done the job when I got them! ) Lunn Specialist Plumbers Merchant

the best way is to isolate the tap remove the cartridge and take them to the plumb center, but i must say B&Q are keeping the ones in for there taps(about 6 types). now there is nothing simple about a leaking tap and its not cheap to do, I had one and the cartridges where £17 + vat and the replacement taps where £25

Default Re: Ceramic tap cartridges

Just a quick one guys on Ceramic discs. I have had a leaky ceramic disc type tap for a few weeks, was only a drip at the time. However I tried to turn the tap off tonight an it failed to turn off at all, it was running at full bore even after several attempts to turn it off. So I stripped it down and removed the disc cartridge. After inspection it seems that the discs would not align at first and then would occassionaly align which would shut off the supply. Is it likely that the cartridge will need replacing? I have put it back together at the minute with the discs aligned so as to shut the water off to the tap but I know when I turn the tap on it will probablly not turn off again. Also I noticed that when I took the cartridge out it had a blue ring but it is the hot tap! Would this cause a problem?? I have heard that the hot and cold cartridges are different, why is this? Any answers would be really appreciated. Darren.

you will need to change the cartridge, take it with you when you go get another so you get the right one, hot and cold are differant on mixertaps as the taps turn on/off opposite way
