Default BTSC catch?

Hmmm just found there site Guaranteed placement in a job after completion, leads to the City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 fully Qualified Plumber certification.

apart from the hefty price whats the catch to this?

fully qualified NVQ and guaranteed job placements?

only reason i ask is im only about 5minutes from the fairly new Manchester BTSC center.

Thanks in advance!

i keep asking the question but have never got a definitive reply.

i think they offer you some work, about 8 weeks until you pass your nvq. i cannot see anyone getting a fully emplyed job at the end of it.

has anyone been on the course and got a full time job?

hi guys

i'm at btsc manchester, and it states very clearly in my legally binding contract with them that after full qualification i will receive a full time permanent job within 30 days or they will refund all payments i make which for the lot will be about 8 k, i call this putting their money where their mouth is!

there is no catch!!!!!!!!!!!!

also there are posters up all over the centre about the success rate of placing the graduates from chessington (no-one has graduated at m/cr yet cos it only opened a couple of months ago) which is 99 percent success. which means only 1 percent of all graduates have not been placed in a job - but they have got their cash back.

hope this helps to shatter a few of the popular myths about what is undoubtedly the best place to learn your new trade. i'm on module 3 and i'm loving every minute of it. i honestly can't fault any aspect of the training here. the max class size is 12 ensuring quality instruction from your trainer, there is no sharing of tools and no shortage of copper pipe, fittings etc. the instructors seem to have a genuine passion for teaching and have on average 20 years experience as master tradesmen.

The companies that are providing the employment are all displayed on a big map in the reception area for all to see, it is also these companies that provide 6-8 weeks placement for your nvq assessments. this is also paid work and i was told to expect between 60 and a ton a day for this.

every aspect is clearly laid out in your contract. i can't envisage any kind of problem here and would reccomend this place to anyone.

regards

If your still looking for somewhere to learn the trade save yourself 4k go with ntps training in hyde and they have links with some agencys who can give you some work to help towards doing your nvq.

All the trainers-asessers are time served tradesmen with teaching quals the course is really easy going and i'm really enjoying it.

I've started advertising for work mainly through family and friends and starting to see some money coming in.

As i've said before each to their own but a saving of around 4k and good teaching does it for me.

i just cannot see how anyone can garauntee someone a job, the at the numbers! if they take a hundred a year through which they may well be way over! how can companies absorb that labour on top of what they already have? as a business model i can only see that there is a catch or it will go bust eventually, or they change the model?

No, they dont guarantee a job, unless you complete Level 3 NVQ. Of course, you cannot complete NVQ Level 3 unless you are already employed!

So that is the catch

Dont get too exited guys - i trained there and even if you get a job placement at the end of level 3 you will be treated like **** by other plumbers in the trade. Best set yourself up self employed . . .

mehera, what makes you think everyone should make way for your newly found basic skills? you will have to enter the working jungle like evyone else. just because we served a full 4 year apprenticeship doesnt mean we got it easy, your probably better waking up and break out of the self pity
