hi to all i have now been at btsc manchester for four weeks. today i passed my cold water and btsc exam i now start my module three on monday.this is the hot water module. when i first saw the advert in the local paper to become a plumber i to had my doubts, but it was something i wanted to do so i rang them up to inquire. it has turned out to be the best thing since sliced bread.the teachers are exellent they will bend over backwards to make information stick in your head. they treat everybody on a leval playing field the school is brand new the tools are brand new all the students are great to get on with. because you are paying your own money up front to do this course it promts you to learn and pass your exams .so if you really want to do something positive in life like being a plumber. i would recommend you to get on a coarse as soon as you can, dont be doubtfull be positive you wont regret it . frebos ps i cant wait to get on my third module on monday

I am presently on the course and although i think the training is very good and the facilitiees are excellent i feel that somehow I have been mis-lead. The salesman was very good i think maybe he used to selll secondhand cars or was an estate agent before.
I am finding it very hard to get on modules due to what i can see being over subscription of the courses, I was told at my (interview ) that the course was at my pace AND I COULD COMPLETE IT IN 6-8 months if i pass all my exams. I find this very hard to believe when you have to wait so long for a module eg week one course, week two phone up after lunchtime to book on exams , take exams that week. have to wait for results via snail post so say recieve them Thursday if you had manged to get in for your exams on tuesday. ( must addd not had a problem getting on exams, by the way an extra £20 is payable for the BTSC exam and there is one after each module. Once you recieve your results you can phone up to book next module which usually just happpens to be Just withing the the one month ( read the small print in your agreements guys) so really its more like 6 weeks to do a module. Now, if you can't get on a module withing a month whatt happens then??? Well they add time to your course because if you don't complete the first 8 mods withing 12 months you have to pay extra. Now to me thats no use, i wanna do the course and why should i have to suffer from there over subscription. I woul love to hear from someone who has manged to complete the course withing the 6-8 months, but i think they will be as rare as rocking horse s&$t

Id be wary of the course offered here, ive completed all 8 mods but you must be as flexible as possible to complete within 12 months

you sign up on day 1...
you sit your Health and Safety (you must book in advance) so the clock is ticking.
you must wait a few days to pass and get your marks POSTED TO YOU for your H&S and you can book your ist Mod.

2 Weeks may have passed by now.
50 weeks left
They gurantee you a course AT LEAST every 4 week ie it will not be less than a 4 week wait
so 4 weeks from now you can take your ist mod. 46 weeks left.
Your mod takes a week and you cant book your exam till youve finshed your mod so you cant book till the following mondayat the earliest.
45 weeks left. you sit your exam on the Weds after your mod and you get your resiults POSTED TO YOU... another week gone. 44 weeks left

so from mod 1 to mod 2 is about 6 weeks following the process above.

ok 44 weeks left and 7 mods to go...

7 X 6 weeks = 42 weeks..... with 2 weeks spare...

so its possible to complete, but if you fluff an exam then you can deduct a week from your remaining time etc. so youve only got 2 weeks grace.

i managed it, but with only days to spare.

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO FIT THE COURSE IN 52 weeks....

any module taken after 52nd week you have to pay for £300 was the going rate last year.

aside from all that, the trainers are excellent and know their nuts, esp John Young, the old geezer whose blind in one eye.

I never had any trub with the standard of training but be wary as its just a plumbing training machine designed to make them money...there is no soul in the establishment, but the training is excellent.

IMHO

Hi, I am about to go down and sign up at BTSC for 6129 level 2 and just suddenly wondered whether its part of the contract that you must stay with them and complete level 3 etc. and are you legally bound to pay for it? Isn't the usual process
1. get 6129 Level 2
2. employment
3. do NVQ level 2, not go straight on to 6129 Level 3.

Is there anything to stop you leaving after getting 6129 Level 2 and getting employment?
Cheers .

I too, have been considering this but as I would have to take out a loan to fund it I am very keen to hear from anyone who has actually passed the course and is in employment as a result of it. ??
