LPG Jet for 1950s Cannon Gas grill

When they converted to northsea gas in the 70s, Alston in ***bria wasn't near a gas pipeline so as a temporary measure they ran the town on a LPG/air mixture which had the same calorific value as natural gas, so once they laid a pipeline they didn't have to reconvert peoples appliances. You...

One zone will not heat up.

So, it's separate manifolds for the bedroom and dressing room. Have you checked the flow/return temps to the manifolds? Assuming each manifold has a pump could be the pump on it has jammed or failed.

Vaillant Controls - is it possible to mix wired and wireless?

How are your heating zones wired? Usually for your typical S-plan with 2 or 3 valves you'd have the room/cylinder stat/s controlling the zone valves and the aux contacts on the valves switching the boiler/pump. If this is the case you'd just have the wireless receiver near the valve to control...

LEAK UNDER FLOOR. BOILER ON ALL THE TIME AND WHAT IS PART IN PHOTOS?

Can't tell what the bit is, but the underfloor leak is probably on your hot water side, not heating. Don't know why the heating is not working but the pressure gauge measures the heating system pressure. Simple way to find out is shut off the hot water outlet valve from the boiler (NOT the...

    hep2O piping to rads advice

Depending on what size/type your existing rad is and how much more heat you want, could you get a bigger rad but the same length, ie K2 or K3 or a higher size? That way you don't need to change/extend the pipework.

    Strange Radiator Valve Screw

Was it Hoval or Ideal valves? Used to have loads of those knocking around: rectangular piece of steel with a couple of square holes in and two prongs off each end. Prongs unscrew the lockshield valve cap, square holes for adjusting/shutting the valve. Simples!

System boiler modulation with low loss header LLH

I would have thought only the room/s calling for heat shold be getting it, and looking at the photo it would appear that the boiler would come on, quickly heat up the small quantity of water in the LLH and local pipes and shut down. If it is coming on for longer periods and using excessive gas...

How can I figure out what's best for my house?

Building insulation is the way to go. Depending on structure you might even need to look at internal dry lining/insulation. Also look at controls: If you're replacing the boiler get a weather compensation option to lower the system temp on warmer days. I have a combi at home and when I've...

System boiler modulation with low loss header LLH

How is it controlled? And why does it need to come on in the middle of the night? Just rehashed a local house with 2 rad zones, 2 UFH zones and HWS. Boiler only fires and pumps only come on when timeclocks AND zone/cylinder thermostats are calling.

    Unvented cylinder size

Like this. Both cold feed and vent on the flow pipe off the boiler.

Help with setting Grundfos pumps.Single Pipe CH heating system.

What he said. Looks like 15mm copper conns? YUK! Don't know how your system is arranged but sometimes it's easier to run a new pipe from the return end and repipe the whole thing as reverse return, especially if the flow and return drop under the floor. Armstrong diverter tees used to be the...

    What's better than one pump?

Went to a small hotel we put new boilers and cylinder in last year as they were complaining about no hot water and heating on the top floor. I should add that's all we did as I thought the existing systems needed total ripping out and starting again but they didn't want to spend the money. Hot...

    Unvented cylinder size

You are assuming the feed and vent are connected either side of the boiler? I'd have the feed and vent both on the suction side of the pump on a low head system, no pumping over and only consideration is enough head to prevent cavitation.
