    Broken gas-meter box catch

I was a mere 30 at the time. I recall watching as the sketch built up (on our gigantic 24in screen...) and just falling about (didn't spill a drop though!). Loved the fact that it seemed - from their reaction - the orchestra were also seeing it for the first time.

Thank you both - sometimes it's just finding the right words. I'll give that a go :) đź‘Ť

    Broken gas-meter box catch

First post on the new forum and a belated thanks to admins for keeping my details this long so I could sign in :) It's one of those "where do I post it" questions but since there's a gas meter question already, I'll add this one. Our gas meter is a "British Gas Mk II Built-in" meter box. The...

Just a quick (hopefully) 'why' question

Thank you all for your responses. Chuck's guess sounds good to me, so will just stick with Drayton's advice. Followed Shaun's advice and moving it to 5/Max has done the trick :) Oh, and thanks, Admin, for moving this to where the right people could see it...

Just a quick (hopefully) 'why' question

I'm one of these weird people (according to missus) who reads instruction leaflets... the ones for Drayton TRV4 valves tell us not to use half or in-between numbers. Nowhere can I find any info on WHY we shouldn't. Since the valve has halfway-mark lines on it, the average user like me - who gets...

Do I have to go with maker's approved engineer to keep warranty active?

Sorry for the delay - think this is the last post I've needed to catch up on... The boiler is a Baxi EcoBlue 16, fitted in 2014.

Been recommended to have 'closed system' for Megaflow set-up

Hi there - sorry I hadn't completed this story but Xmas, new year, relatives.... We went ahead with the conversion, which now incorporates a bright red Zilmet cylinder in the airing cupboard. It was a good tidy job and we noticed (imagined?) an immediate improvement in the warmth of the house...

Do I have to go with maker's approved engineer to keep warranty active?

He hasn't actually said anything yet, but we suspect our present man may be preparing for retirement, and we want to be prepared :) Thanks for the reassurance.

Do I have to go with maker's approved engineer to keep warranty active?

3-year old boiler... will my 7-year warranty be affected if I switch the annual service to a plumber other than the installer? We're looking at another local small-business man who is on the Gas Safe list and 'ticks all the right boxes', but is not on the maker's list.

Been recommended to have 'closed system' for Megaflow set-up

Thanks both. The system was flushed in November 2014 when the new boiler (Baxi EcoBlue 16) was installed, so that should not be too bad. We saw how much gunge came out and the rads were a lot better afterwards. Our water supplier's hardness figures show "Calcium Carbonate 278mg/l; Calcium...

Been recommended to have 'closed system' for Megaflow set-up

Further to my earlier post, the stat trouble returned and we had a plumber visit. Not our usual one, who was too busy, but another independent recommended by him (Gas Safe Register confirmed). He agreed it was the stat and has arranged for an electrician to fit a new one. While here, he had a...

Heating suddenly always on - timer fault?

Sorry I haven't got back sooner (how time flies!). Plumber never got back to me but we've had no problem since my original post... I'm now touching wood :) Thanks anyway - if there are further developments I'll revive this thread.

Which plumbing suppliers do you use? - We'll create a poll once we have a list

Our plumber uses and highly recommends John Nicholls, Banbury. When we lived in the Hinckley area, our plumber's first choice was Stuart Plumbing Supplies, Nuneaton.

Heating suddenly always on - timer fault?

Thanks for the responses - our man must be away since we've not had a response by either email or text and he's usually pretty reliable. In the meantime, after its strange day, the heating has been working properly. Thinking back, the boiler exhausts through a north-facing wall and there was...

Thanks - I've emailed our boiler man. :)
