I’ll double check that the wiring was the same, but i’m almost certain it’s been working fine and then has started playing up just now which makes me think its fine?
Perhaps unrelated - the boiler casing is now extremely hot when it’s on, and the radiators are too hot to touch - this has just...
Why would the thermostat dial be turned right around clockwise to zero yet the heating still kicks in? Surely if for some reason the programmer kicked the boiler in then the thermostat should stop it heating with it being turned off?
Hi,
I’m not sure what a frost stat is, from reading it kicks in to stop everything freezing, however it didn’t do it when i had 15’’ of snow the other week and minus 5, and has this week when it’s quite warm.
The new controller was just a straight swap using the same backplate etc and I got a...
Hi all,
Strange query here...! I recently replaced my timer/programmer thanks to the help of folk on here.
I now have a Drayton lifestyle 7 day programmer, a Honeywell junction box, and a very old but well serviced and working Potterton Kingfisher MF boiler.
Recently (Not just when cold...
Thanks for the replies all, Ric / Gary - it’s great to hear your opinions too - the hall is as warm as I can make it for the time being rad size / draught proofing wise. On that basis is it easy enough to remove / disconnect that old style thermostat and replace with a digital wireless one? Or...
I get that in some theory, but it’s completely pointless as it never ever gets to temp - above say 16degs in the passage. So never kicks off, so say i have the heating programmed for 6-10pm, it will stay on for that whole time. I want it to knock off once warm enough in the main room, then kick...
Hi all,
I’m looking to change my room thermostat - it’s currently an old type as pictured below, which is positioned in a draughty hallway which is no good what so ever. I need a thermostat in my living room instead where we spend most of our time.
Is it easy to disconnect the existing - no...
Thanks everyone. As a (poor) DIY’er I guess it’s as simple as shutting off the power then removng the 2 wires from the current programmer and outting them into a new one - simple as that? Why is there a honeywell junction box there? Couldn’t that just be bypassed?
