I have a Vaillant Turbomax Plus boiler, fitted in 2005. Recently it's locked out several times due to low pressure, which prompted me to check the expansion vessel. When I pressed the Schrader valve I found that water, rather than air, was released. That suggests to me a failure of the...
I've had a reply from Vaillant, which says the only solution is to fit a VRT350f with a VR39 interface; to quote: "The VR39 is fitted into the BMU box on the boiler and converts the outputs from terminals 7, 8 and 9 into eBus that the VRT350f can read". I've looked online but haven't yet found...
Thanks, chaps. Sorry to spark another debate about Gas Safe registration! The boiler is a Vaillant Turbomax Plus 837e - I think the wireless receiver is probably a plug-in module but I’ll take your advice about that.
Still no luck, so I called the Vaillant helpline today. The response was that there's no fix, and the unit will have to be replaced. Great. So now I'm on the lookout for a compatible unit; ideally one that will use the existing receiver but otherwise one that I can plug into the boiler...
Yes, it’s wireless. Working fine until the battery change. After the change the receiver on the boiler was showing a red light, but that cleared when I pressed the button and it now shows green as usual. Next I took the new batteries out of the room stat for a few minutes, but when I put them...
Thanks for the rapid response! I’m slightly mystified that the unit shows ‘Err’ alone without any qualifier such as ‘RF’, but hey-ho. Rebinding sounds like a good idea, but how do I do that?
Hi all,
I have a Vaillant VRT 340f wireless programmable room stat - the early version without the dial. I've just changed the batteries (2xAAA) - something I've done several times before - and now the display just shows 'Err'. I've tried leaving the batteries out for a few minutes and then...
You are absolutely right, of course. Unfortunately many tradesmen are not as well trained or experienced as some of those on here. That's why so many of us ordinary punters end up here with our questions. Last time I asked a local firm for a diagnosis I ended up spending £250 on a new...
Usually what happens is a plumber comes out, looks at what needs to be done and either disappears to get parts or has to book another appointment - very inefficient and very costly. If I can say I need the diverter valve replaced it’s one quick visit.
I certainly don't want to take any risks, whether safety-related or legal. But obviously the rule isn't simply, 'Don't touch a boiler' as user controls are part of it. Is there an easy link that will tell me what I can and can't do?
I've only folded down the control panel. Not removed the outer casing, let alone the combustion chamber cover. But of course I'll get someone in if necessary.
I was beginning to think I knew my way around my Vaillant Turbomax Plus boiler, having recently replaced the pressure release valve and repressurised the expansion vessel. But now it's leaking water and, while I can see where it's dripping, I don't understand the function of the component...
