Unvented Hot Water Cylinder issues .....

Sounds like a faulty zone valve, but best to get an engineer out to investigate.

    Are Megafloes noisy?

The Megaflo cylinder shouldn't be noisy at all. If the heating pump and motorised valves are also in the same cupboard, then there may be some low level noise.

    Underground heating pipes

Thanks for all your helpful replies, an the photos missplumb. I've read up on most of the products mentioned, and Uponor and Calpex sound good. I like Uponor as it doesnt require special tools or couplers. I guess £50/m is the typical price, so the customer may be in for a shock!

    Underground heating pipes

Can anyone recommend some pre-insulated pipe (or similar) to supply heating to an outbuilding about 20m away from the main house. The pipe will be buried in a underground trench, and therefore needs to be well insulated to avoid heating the ground! I know Polypipe have a product with twin pipes...

    Weather Compensation Controller

Anyone recommend a heating controller with weather compensation? It needs to serve 2 heating zones and 1 hot water (unvented). Ideally internet connected, something like the Worcester WAVE, but unfortunately the WAVE only does 1 heating zone and also requires their internal diverter valve...

Unvented cylinder running out of hot water

If it's heated by immersion heaters, it may not be reaching full temperature after 30mins! With 4 immersions in the old vented cylinder, 30 mins may have been long enough, but unless the unvented cylinder also has 4 immersions, I'd say leave it on for 2-3 hrs and then see how it goes. Or you...

Had the phone call a few days ago, so clearly short-listed, but no luck this time! Will try harder for next year... Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all at Williams & Co, especially to Matt and the guys at Aldershot.

    Moved Baxi Solo 24HE

No, I think they're okay. I spoke to Baxi and they said to check the venturi is not blocked and when I mentioned the flue seal they said that's also possible. On closer inspection today, I can see POC back in from the inside of the boiler, so I guess it's the seal. No in stock anywhere local...

    Moved Baxi Solo 24HE

Thanks guys. It's a new (PDK) flue, and I though the blue seal at the top of the boiler was rather pathetic. My thoughts were either vitiation (but I think it uses flame rectification instead!) or contaminated air. I think maybe the inner flue seal at the top of the boiler is allowing POC into...

    Moved Baxi Solo 24HE

Hi, I've just moved a Baxi Solo 24HE. It fires up okay, but after the main burners light it shutsdown. Does this 3 times then locksout. However, with the air box door removed boiler fire up and runs fine! Any ideas where the problems is?

Solder connection only - Baxi Solo 24HE

Thanks AP - That makes sense. This has a horizontal flue out the back, but now needs the plume kit. Not cheap, as it has a replacement horizontal flue as well. The flow and returns will now come from below, which is a little more hassle as the fitings assumed they're coming from above!

Solder connection only - Baxi Solo 24HE

Just moved a Solo regular boiler, and the instruction manual states the flow and return tails to the boiler must be SOLDERED, and compression fittings must not be used. Not a problem, but seems odd! Can anyone explain if there's any technical reason why?
