1/2 rad tail for rad spanner

Sorry I wasn't clear, and thanks to those who have helped clarify. You have now got to the heart of it Chriswareham, TRV's need 4cm and the standard only 3cm. I had thought I would need more than 1 cm looking at the manufacturer's diagram. I wasn't worried about the downstairs one as the...

1/2 rad tail for rad spanner

I am wanting to fit a TRV but the radiator tail that come with all the TRVs I can find have the spanner flats on the outside not the inside. The problem is they need a greater distance between rad and pipe. I thought if I could replace the tail piece with a shorter one that still fits on the...

    Central heating Questions and Tips

Also bleed the hot water cylinder if possible - In your photo there is a thick pipe with the pump, and behind that another thick pipe, and behind that a thinner pipe - difficult to see fully - but if you can see if that is coming out of the yellow cylinder and the top of the pipe just ends, then...

    Drayton Mid Position Valve

Maybe the internal switch SW1 is stuck on grey so only the stalling circuit through the diode and SW2 is working from the white. Without this you cannot get to mid-position but if put there manually the circuit through grey could take it over to CH only, if required. What ever, it seems you...

The electrical box will be at the side of the pump. The lead exiting the box would be at the top of the box instead of the underside of the box. Like this:

    2 qu. regarding UPS2

In the instructions for UPS2 it looks like this pump can be fitted upside down (the flow is downwards) is this correct? I know it is OK for older pumps (the previous was upside down). The pumps with electronic display seem to have to be unbolted and rotated (even if you can read upside down)...

    Anyone use PlumbNation for rads?

Wondered if anyone had radiators from them and what that was like. Looking for Myson Premium HE (Imperial) for replacements and there are not stockists many advertising these.

    Old radiator output help

wiki.diyfaq.org.uk contains a page on central heating radiators which might be helpful though it doesn't deal with double panel no convector.

    Old radiator output help

Whilst I take Steveb's point about it being different for different makes are they so different that any make wouldn't give a rough idea? I have done the same myself but found it difficult to get info on radiators without convector fins as not many seem to be sold now. I only needed single...
