    Oftec 101

Thanks for the info Simon! I was thinking if it's not to expensive for building control then I could go down that route as I'd only be doing a couple a year, but seems like it might be better to become registered.

    Oftec 101

Alright guys? I'm pretty new to doing oil, I have OFTEC 101. Can I replace an oil boiler with oftec 101 or do I need another add-on for this? Also, I understand that if you are not oftec registered, you can't self certify the installation, so you need to go through building control. Do you know...

    Heating System

They've only just moved in, so haven't really used it. But you could put heating or hot water on individually on the timer, so guessing there's a valve somewhere. Bit of a nightmare as the bathroom is above it with a tiled floor!

    Heating System

Can't see it being gravity as all the pipework that is visible is 22mm. The house is pretty old, cylinder hasn't got any lagging at all. How would it work with wiring a cylinder stat and room stat if there's no valve? Surely when one is calling, they'll both be on?

    Heating System

Alright guys? I don't do much installation, mainly breakdown/service work, so forgive me. I've gone to look at a mates boiler, old baxi solo which is corroded through and needs replacing. I was thinking of fitting a baxi ecoblue 15 erp as it doesn't require a pump overrun and it has rear flue...

    How would you class this?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't gas meter within 150mm of electric meter/consumer unit just classed as NCS?

Worcester 28i junior lock out problem.

You can't have both running at the same time, its one or the other. Is diverter actuator moving ok? I've had one on the new I ERP boilers where the diverter motor had failed and for some reason it would go through the motions of startingf a demand, fan would run etc... but didn't go to...

    CO Alarm Activated

I thought they would have had some one who would deal with CO - but the guy was convinced they didn't. He even spoke to his boss about it, and he confirmed that it's nothing to do with them. I've got a mate who works for BG and I know they have a team which do CO investigations, so I...

    CO Alarm Activated

It was an end of terrace bungalow, quiet cul de sac. Checked emissions outside property and they went down, checked back inside property and up they went. Nah apparently they don't have CO detectors and all they do in CO incidents is isolate gas as it's nothing to do with them. The transco...

    CO Alarm Activated

Hi guys, I work for a manufacturer and got called to a job today under warranty as the customer had reported co alarm going off, just want to get your opinion and how you would have acted on the situation... So, alarm goes off, they call transco out who cap the gas off at the meter and say...

    worcester compact si25

Compact range is a piece of **** to work on. People open it up and see everything crammed in, but if you actually look at it, it's very well designed. fan comes out with 1 screw, plate comes out with 1 screw. gas valve comes out with 1 screw and 1 nut. Don't see what people are complaining...

    Calling you baxi men

on these you tend to find that the preheat section of the diverter sticks so the heat just goes around the storage side of the vessel. whip it out, clean and lubricate pin, usually sorts it

    Meter install question

As long as its bracketed and secure then its just ncs. If not bracketed, i believe there needs to be minimum 600mm of rigid pipework which is clipped correctly
