hey guys I’ve been thinking about doing my gas, I have previous gas experience (the company I did my apprenticeship with) but after I left I went with a company that specialises in oil. I want to stay with this company but potentially broaden my skills. Obviously the problem I have is I won’t be able to register my gas safe with my current company? As the boss has to be gas safe qualified and registered? Is there any way around this? I won’t have any problems getting gas evidence for the qualification as a mate, who taught me my trade at previous company is now self employed. So could I register under him? Or do I have to be employed by him? Just want some light shone on to want I’m hoping to do.
Thanks guys

Don’t know about your bosses registration but if your friend has his own gas safe registration he can put you on as an engineer. you’ve got to have your gas tickets.

He will need your national insurance number and date of birth. There will be a small charge.

Once your qualified you can register with your current company if they would like to

And then the company would become gas safe registered with just you on the ticket

(Hope that makes sense)

That’s massive help because I was under the assumption that the company director would need his tickets. Thanks a lot
