Had the first quote back for the following.

Ideal Vogue C32 gen2.
Vertical flue kit + flat roof seal.
Ideal filter.
Honeywell Evohome for 7 radiators.
Evohome Opentherm Bridge.
Re-pipe gas in 22mm, approx 5 meters.
Route cold in 22mm, approx 4 meters + stopcock.
Remove old boiler.

That comes to £3226.

Other guy came round today so should get that quote in the next few days.

Reason I'm asking is a friend is saying it sounds expensive.

Do you have a combi boiler now or is it a cylinder?

Cylinder, but im removing all that and fully replacing all the central heating, radiators and pipework. They will be left connecting up with the required copper pipe to the plastic I'm fitting.
Boiler is in a different spot so needs the flue and condensate doing, to a nearby washing machine waste.

Honestly it's about right if not a bit cheap evo home isn't cheap

And I'm sure we're on the v3 of the vogue now

Just worked something out

You've got about 2-2.5k in materials / controls plus any copper / fittings

Thats not expensive £4000 down here bud , 28mm for the gas would be better why take the risk of a unacceptable pressure drop. Cheers kop

You are being ripped off. Should not be too much more than about
£2200.00. Shop around, you can always get it cheaper.

Yes, but cheaper is not always better. Also the boiler is over 30kw which means it will be over a grand for the boiler alone. If you are offering that price and you can do it for that. Give the custard your details and you've got yourself a nice job there mate. :p:p You could even charge a bit more for fuel and hotels.

I added most of the parts up to be about £1900. Then have the cost of the piping, and labour + some profit on the parts maybe. If your anywhere near Manchester and send me your details and you can come and have a look.

£2200 wont even cover the materials . you need a quality boiler with a long reliable warranty and a good local installer who will fit it and look after you for years to come , cheap i hate that word it may survice now but you will be kicking yourself in 2 -3 years time when you get niggling problems think hard before you commit regards kop

Im pretty keen on the first company to be honest, they offer to beat other quotes as well. But most important its a family run buisness that my dad and his dad have dealt with for years, they have a great reputation around here, have been quick to answer any questions. They would also probably be the ones i would use to service it as well.

So far they have both said its the quickest quotes they have done, not many customers tell them everything they need to know.

Plus a bit of profit on parts maybe!

Very generous bud.

The bloke is running a business and you will get what you pay for.

Thanks guys, appreciate the input.
Definitely a decent company, the guy that came round that will see the job through is one of the top guys with all the degrees and what not.
I will be back with photos once it's done see how they did.

What if any cleaning steps should be done. In emails he said that a water flush through will be carried out. Seeing as its brand new everything and plastic piping is that all that's required.

If you can flush all the rads before fitting, be surprised how much rubbish they can have in them

So might be worth me connecting the flow to the mains and running it through each rad in turn?

If you have an open vent system I wouldn't connect the flow to the mains.:p:p:p:p

New system, think he means flow then each rad

And have the rad outside to flush

No im taking the old system out and going to a combi. We currently have an ancient Poterton boiler, a hot water cylinder and two water cisterns in the loft.

I mean once i have piped up the rads, run the return to a grid, and connect the flow to the mains. Turn the tap on and go around the house opening each radiator in turn.

Thought you did but was double checking ;);)

I have been pressure testing as i go and so far its held pressure each time overnight. Probably do a final one with the system full with as much water as i can before pumping it up.

I always flush before filling the boiler towel rails always have debris from the manufacturing process , stelrad have been especially bad recently rusty water in a few i have fitted maybe from testing in the factory ? Cheers kop

Don't forget to test to manufacturers specification

Im only doing an air pressure test. But will go to the required pressure. With as much water in the system as I can to reduce air volume.

Needs to be water mate

It SHOULD be water only due to H&S being a diyer I can choose to ignore those. Fill it with water then pump up, be minimal air volume.

Yes and no most leaks won't show up with air you shove a hydraulic pressure test and you will see
