Hey folks.

I noticed when looking at my level 3 certs it said something along the lines of 'water regulations and unvented qualified' does this mean I can apply for the cards to show I'm qualified for these?

No idea how it works by the way.

Cheers.

So if I have got qualifications stating I'm nvq level 3 it means I can fit unvented cylinders ,? Where do you get the cards then ?

Should say on your certs unvented hot water (G3)

Unvented is part of your Gas Safe card just ask them to put it on your registration

I done the units water regs and unvented on my L3 but how do you go about getting cards for it rather than pulling out your certs to show competence?

No cards for either there used to be but they stopped doing them

My qualifications are from Germany they are equivalent to a minimum to nvq level 3. The gas they didn't accept therefore I had to do the full course which I am doing right now. I have passed today my Theorie exams 3 sheets of 35 questions each. Passed all with 93%, 9o%, 95%.

I cannot see where it should state that I am G3 certdfied installer. I know in Germany I am and can install everything. How can I get the certificate or the card to install unvented systems ?

so your not g3 qualified need to take the course and water regs

How do you know I am not? Where can I check that if I have to do the course or not? There must be a legal body to ask if I am allowed to install

if you dont have on your certificates uvhw or hwss then you dont have it

My certificates got approved by narric therefore they do not write things like that. They just tell you what's equivalent to.
Is there another way of finding it out? Or do I need to speak to them ?

You have to do a specific Unvented course and you will get a card and certificate upon completion. If the course was included in your gas training then your course provider should have applied for your card.
I suggest caution with your German qualifications being 'equivalent to' because if you install and something goes wrong, having an 'equivalent' but not exact qualification may not cover you.

Water Regs again is a stand alone course which to my knowledge, isn't necessarily included in a gas course package unless it's explicitly added on. You don't just 'get' invented and water regs.

I recently sat my G3, I am qualified to level 2. There were some lads on the course who had finished their level 3 but still had to sit the actual G3 course to be able to get the card with photo id. Seemingly your C&G cert will state you have passed that module but then it all gets fudged. You cant really turn up at someones house and show them your certs, the lanyard round your neck is what they look at! Its only a days course anyway. A day off the tools

You must choose a Competent Persons Scheme (Gas Safe is the best known but there are others that also cover non-gas plumbing). Then talk to them about what you need to do to gain membership.

NARIC does provide a service to help holders of overseas qualifications gain entry to a limited number of regulated trades in the UK but gas and plumbing aren't among them:

NARIC - Services for individuals

Sounds like 3 steps forward and 2 steps back for poor old matchless.

That's a bit pointless really taking time off the tools to do a course that you're supposedly already qualified for so you can get a card to show your competent. A bit annoying really that colleges say this but yet the only way to prove it is to carry your certificates about. No real guidance on how to prove your qualification through other means rather than a certificate. No way am I leaving my certs on the van they'll get wrecked lol.

I agree, I was talking to someone I work with who like you has done the unvented with his level 3 but he was told by the college that he would have to sit the extra course to get the official card. For me I was happy to just do the day, it was quite a bargain ÂŁ153 plus fiver for the mugshots. It all gets a bit confusing as NIC issue the id and qual card, maybe C&g dont ?

153 quid isn't worth it in my eyes. After the hard work I put in to level 3 you should just be able to apply for a card. Unvented and water regs. It's just extra money that could be spent else where such as my life. I mean at the end of the day we all graft hard to have a better life in it.

Gas safe put it on your card for free

As for Gas Safe. I want to do it but no idea where to start.

your best bet if you can is follow a gas safe engy round for 6-12 months and then doing the training

I would do the course then

What course is that? I thought there was a couple of different paths I could go down. Course and collecting evidence of installs.

Yes I would do the collage route esp if your doing installs with him helps alot

best speak to a local tech collage

Ah will be alright I'll find my way to get the card. First I'll ask a legal body if not I am going to do the whole course for a day. That's ok with me I know that this country is loves to rip people off :)

disagree with that, any country that you move to you will need to re-qualify
