Hi
I've got my probationary period inspection from gas safe coming up and was wondering if anybody had any advice?
What questions do they ask or want you to demonstrate?
Can't help but feel a bit nervous
Thanks

Not sure anymore as the way they do it has changed. They now get a few of us together in a room and ask questions.

You will need to demonstrate you competence JKG , do a tightness test , gas rate , flueing ,test the saftey devices , ventillation, test pressure drop across a gas carcase he will want to see 3 jobs you have compleated ,a bit daunting but we all have to do it they will always find something so check and double check your jobs good luck kop

Thanks for the replies I'll double check everything and get my head into some books to refresh my knowledge

They will probably want to look at your paperwork, warning labels and pads, fga calibration certificate

The guy whom came and inspected me whanted to see 3 jobs ideally but was quite willing for me to basically carry out a service inspection of our office boiler and whiteness, tightness test, gas rate, flue gas analysis.
Really nice bloke and very helpful,

I wouldn't worry about it. we had ours a few months back. he asked some basic question and looked at some of our gear e.g. flar star and purging equipment ect
and look over a job we were doing then had a debate about industrial vs domestics gas

Cheers. I spoke to him on the phone today and he said he would just get me to do some work on the boiler at my home address which was recently installed.
How long does it last?

Is this probationary check new ? Is this post - registration or pre-registration ? Its all new to me since I was CORGI Reg since the start and got Gas Safe Reg by default in 2009. Since then Ive had one inspection !! At the end of the day, as long as your knowledge is good and sound, and they never get complaints from customers, and you dot every I and cross every T day in day out, then they'll leave you alone. there is no need to feel nervous as the inspectors are not trying to catch anyone out. They are there simply to uphold gas safety and be helpful and supportive to the industry in general. Ive never had a run in with a CORGI / GSR Inspector, except one in the mid 90's who the rest of CORGI inspectors hated anyway !!

I'm not sure if it's new I've been gas safe registered for about 10years working for a company but didn't get to do that much gas work. And never had inspection
Now I've left the company registered with gas safe and you must have an inspection within the first 3 months

This inspection is quite normal. What I thought - a post registration check. Nothing to worry about as long as youve got all your kit, FGA & calibration certificate etc etc. If they find anything wrong, then they'll just ask for an improvement period. They dont strike anyone off without good reason and a long drawn out process.

They do it to all new registrations also periodic to existing registrations Ive got one coming up in a few week and Ive been registered for over 15 years

My inspection was within 1st month but I'd previously had gorgi years ago. Once the inspector has been round and is confident in your ability the 3 month probation is done and your good for 5years.

After migrating from CORGI (reg'd since 1991) in 2009, Ive had ONE inspection since GSR started !

Got my inspection coming up this month brand new to gas but been in the plumbing game for over 10yrs , should of done it a long time ago ' Has anyone got any links or instructional videos for ongoing learning and support I know about the TB on gas safe website and they actually have a e learning section with tests , anymore stuff out there like this if someone could point me in the right direction ......???

Also only registered on here today how do I get one of them gas safe badges under my name or do admin automatically do it once confirmed I'm on the GSR

Hi, when your logged in the gas safe register there is a e learning section mate
I haven't done my acs yet but will be done in 2 weeks times :)
I was thinking to get the gas exam question app online but not too sure if that's good or not couldn't find any reviews though
