Firstly, hi everyone.

Can anyone help me out with this please?

I want to gain my NVQ without having to go through the 6129 or 6035 if I am able to. I am experience and have Gas Safe, OFTEC, PART P, In-Vented, Energy Efficiency, Water Regs, WIAPS, WATERSAFE but not a Plumbing Qual.

My question is do I have to do either the 6129 or 6035 in order to gain my NVQ or am I able to go straight through and make a Portfolio and be assessed to actually gain my NVQ. Anyone know of a centre, college or if this is possible.

Any info will be gratefully received. I'm in Bedfordshire.

Thanks

Hi Djclubber,
If you are not born here and you've done your apprenticeship back in your country you have a chance to send your certificates to naric and they will compare it with the standard over here. They will then send you a letter to let you know the nvq which Is equivalent to your certificates.

if you are born here and you do not have any qualifications regarding plumbing then you may need to do the nvq in full ( as far as I know ) As they love to see finished portfolios.

But best off calling an academy to find out

Hi

Yes I am born here in UK.

I was hoping to find out if there is an experienced route I can go down. Thanks for the reply. Ive got everything else apart from the Plumbing NVQ which I would like.

There was a post on here somewhere I read that I could Bypass the Technical Certificate and start doing my Portfolio, doe this route still exist? Any advice, Welcome.

Thanks.

I've heard that you can do a nvq only course if you have the experiance but not sure where you can do these. Also how did you do your gas safe as I'm wanting to do the same but only have experiance and no plumbing qualifications? Cheers :)

Hi I done me Gas Safe with The Gas Academy in Barnet. Any College will let you learn the Gas, for instance Oaklands in St Albans.

I have a plumber coming tomorrow to change a cartridge on a badly dripping tap on my bathroom mixer unit. There is no separate isolating valve for this tap so I'll have to close the stopcock. I tried closing it today but it won't go absolutely 100% closed and there is still a very slight flow...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
