Hi all,

First post here, so be nice!

Just had a bathroom fitted and stuck with some ugly pipes that I would like to cover preferably in a chrome finish. Any ideas?

Snap on covers won't work due to elbow joint in pipe work I don't think?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

for the level of finish :uhoh2: thats not good

guess you could try chrome pain

Yes I was disappointed with that everything else is spot on.

He said chrome pipe couldn't be used due the elbow, I believe.

hes right but why not plan ahead and go straight into the valve, instead of coming out in the centre and bending into them

Just seen the 'Hansgrohe Isiflex 1.25 Metre Shower Hose' online. Smooth finish. Not sure on diameter though?

What like these hard to get ones from your local Screwfix store at little over £2 each !!! (and you get some that have a proper plated finish to match the pipe)

What a shame some don't go that little bit further for a good finish lets the rest of the work down.

Just get it repiped in Chrome tube with a couple of 15mm couplings & elbows a proper plumber will even put a kick in the pipe to bring the valve square to the wall.
Get it done right.

Okay thanks for your help.
Any paint in particular?

any metal paint should be fine, do a test piece first to see if your happy with the colour

Very frustrating would it be much work to retrofit chrome piping for a plumber?

no

chrome couplings just above the boxing (to save messing about with that)

length of chrome pipe

the right rad valves

and two chrome elbows (or bend the pipe)

drain down and new bottle of inhb

approx

I've got to be honest I wouldn't want to look at that after a bathroom refit. There's Boxing below. Should be straight chrome valves and straight pipes into them. Maybe more upheaval but surely worth it?

Depends if got spare tiles / can get some more ?

Unfortunately the boxing below doesn't come out as far as the radiator does so a straight pipe down wouldn't work either.

Go to Brewers decorator centre and ask their advice. If you paint them it should look okay. It will look better than having chrome compression fittings.
