    Default garage door

Found this quite interesting today considering i find wether your a plumber or gas fitter i normally get questioned on my prices or call out charges. Basically the cable on my garage door had snapped on one side so has been in a constant closed state since it has happened and me being on a cant be bothered to do it mysel set the woman a task of getting some prices for repair. Now have looked online for the cable i need £6 and instructions of how to repair ( i judge myself to do it about an hour). So my theory on this would be at max a garage door specialist hour call out £50 tops ,,,,,or so i thought.First call was told that it takes about 15 mins to repair and quoted with materials £150!!!! Second quote was £100 but they supplied materials not me which were £25 so total of £125 bearing in mind cable was six quid! Now bearing in mind we have the hassle of water or gas or both it kind of makes me wonder where some peole get these prices from!!

The test centres obviously haven't cottoned on to the potential £60k+ earning capabilities of a garage door 'technician' yet so the market is't flooded with garage door specialists with 2 weeks experience.

    No you're not!

Unless people are disabled, an automatic door is a luxury, and as such the market has limitations, and those that want such luxuries are likely to get stung.

People need toilets, showers, taps, basins, sinks, and heating systems, etc, so there will always be work for plumbers and heating engineers, and you have the satisfaction of knowing that you are providing a constructive and much needed service to the public.

It's the rip-off mentality of: 'get as much money as you can' at every turn' that has helped to put this country in the!!!!!!!

Plumbing and heating went through something of a golden phase due to long-term skills shortages, and the redress of that shortage of labour towards a balance, combined with the general recession, has led to harder times for some, but things will pick up again when people (potential customers) get more money in their pockets.
