He was asking what would be the best way to control the temp in all of them, set it at 21 degrees max, his tennants always keep it on full and he want to control it. What would be the best system to us for this, never done it before and i am curious...cheers

Hi All, Can Anyone help me with a wiring problem. I have a gravity fed hot water system with pumped central heating. Problem is no matter when the hot water on by itself the radiators are also on. My boiler is a potterton flamingo RS35-50 in the kitchen. The wiring is a complete hash of terminal blocks with wires running to the immersion tank and kitchen. The central heating pump wiring runs straight to the back of the boiler! is this normal. even when i get hot water the flow just trickles out of the basin tap. The timer/programmer is a drayton lifestyle lp112 which i have a wiring diagram for but this includes a room thermostat which i dont have. On the side of the imersion is a valve which obviosly directs the hot water to either system, how should this be wired up to the system. app any help, ive included the wiring diagram i have 7 a pic of the valve..thanks all

went to look at this boiler on way home from work today. the fella who owned the boiler was a sparks n decided to whip out the HW temp sensor withour draining down and made a bit of a mess. the reason he tried to do this was his hot water apparantley goes hot cold hot cold. CH worked fine but could would not even go into ignition sequence on HW. checked divertor valve n motor seems ok.wen i went to check for 5v between red n black wires on control board couldn't get probes into terminals cos terminals were too small! anyone else had this prob?

i'm leaning towards the flow switch now but since its was all a bit wet i isolated the gas and have left over night to dry and i'll pick up some smaller test probes for my tester and have a butchers.
Just wanted to see what your experiences were with this boiler and prob!

Hi
When installing a WBS for central heating + domestic hot water via a thermalstore - is it still good practice to have a heat sink radiator running off the primary flow and return ?

I am aware that in some situations it is not necessary , but in this instance the WBS will be sited on the ground floor with the thermalstore on the first floor , F and E tank in the loft . Radiators will be sited both ground and first floor. The radiators on the circuit are lower then the central heating outlet on the thermal store so in the event of a power cut , gravity circulation would not happen around the heating circuit. Is this correct ?

Comments and critisms gratefully received !

Thanks
I told Vallaint Engineer on last Service visit but he did nothing about problem. It continues and I’m told it’s a common problem. It is driving us and our neighbours mad and wakes us all up early each morning. I turned to lowest Summer setting to resolve but Boiler does not heat water at all. Is this a heat exchanger problem - we had to have ours replaced already a few weeks after installation 4 years ago?

I am extending the circuit of a central heating, connecting 2 extra radiators, i would like to put 2 isolation valves where the new branch begins. I can't put any lever one as there is not space, i would like to fit 2 screwdriver operated, full bore, isolation valve.
I found that flowflex do what I am looking for (sold by screwfix) will it be suitable for central heating? There is only specify "suitable for water".
Screwfix sells as well conex or pegler isolation valves but no specifications if they are full bore.
Please help

Hi guys my mum has just had central heating and a combi worcester green star junior installed and i have been watching with interest. Everything has been put in and the hot water is fine. At the end of the day they went to put the central heating on and nothing happened. They said they would have to get the electrician back but for now if she pressed the reset button then the service button the boiler would send heat to the rads for a burst of half hour as far as i can tell.

What I want to know is - what did they do wrong? Could it be the way they wired the thermostat into the programmer does it have to be where they put the wire from the boiler to the programmer?

The programmer is a Danfoss.

We have an old cottage which has a wet system and oil fired boiler which were here when we moved in 12 years ago.
I want to install a couple of new rads but before I do I decided to familiarise myself with the system layout.

What puzzles me is that the feed tank is in the attic, and the on the end of the 'open vent' there is what looks like a pressure valve of some sort, not an open pipe.

I thought I would investigate a bit further and found that if I removed this, when the pump is running water flows from vent pipe back in to the top of the tank.

I have 2 queries:

Should this valve be there and if so what is it for?
If not, why does the water flow out of what should be the open vent.

Is it possibly to do with the position of the pump in the system, or perhaps some other issue.
