Default Fan noise and repair cost

My Vokera boiler is making noise but only when on the hot water setting, not the central heating. Its about 14 years old and my plumber says almost certainly the fan and would be very expensive to repair and I should have a new boiler installed.
Any thoughts on his advice ? (this will be the third bolier he's installed for me this year in different houses which makes me wary ?) What should a fan repair cost and would it be false economy ? Thanks for any advice, John

it all depends on your point of view. he has allready fault finded the unit. and told you its the fan motor.
personally i dont see how this is possible, however that was not your question.

a fan motor can be rewound and balanced for 150 quid.
if the boiler is old as stated, i wouldnt repair it if it was in my house, i would install a newer more effiecent boiler.

it all depends on how much money you have, and how much your installer knows you have.

sounds like he thinks youve got a bit !!

good luck

Most expensive fan I've replaced was £155 + vat and that was because it had it's own pcb that you couldn't split, they are normally not that dear.Don't know your model from your post and have obviously not seen the job,so can't tell you if the rgi's diagnosis is correct but I think you should get a second opinion. If your boiler is as old as you say he may be thinking along the energy efficeincy route, saving you more in the long term by changing rather than repairing
