Re: Building Trade Skills Centre ( BTSC )
I am just about to start the btsc plumber course at manchester. I am very impressed so far despite the cost.
The benefits of training at btsc rather than a college are many, for example when my mate enrolled at a local technical college to do level 2 and 3 they were not allowed to solder the pipe fittings (because of expense in copper) apparrently because the funding of the college goes mainly into the more glamorous courses. therefore it is practically impossible to fully learn the necessary skills. at btsc this is not a problem. there is also difficulty in getting nvq from a college course because you need to be in work. at btsc the companies who are offering garenteed job placements for graduates provide 6-8 weeks of work placements for the purposes of nvq assessment. Incidentally it is because of the garenteed job that there has to be an interview. after all these companies don't just want any tom dick or harry!
I will endeavour to keep you all informed of my experiences as and when....
p.s the fee is now only 3850 for the first part. 2850 for the second and 1850 for the extra's such as unvented hot water, site card etc..
